Doing the crosswalk December 17, 201330 What is a ‘crosswalk’? -- a strategy to align your Turnaround Plan with existing initiatives or plans Why would we want to do a crosswalk? -- to select Turnaround Indicators to include in your Priority or Focus plan that CONTINUES initiatives showing promising effects -- to identify Turnaround Indicators that address all the USED Turnaround Principles
31
Doing the crosswalk (cont’d) December 17, 201331 How do we do the ‘crosswalk’? -- review the Crosswalk document distributed at the Aug/ Sept workshops and posted on the Steps page http://www.education.nh.gov/instruction/integrated/documents/crosswalk_ nh_turnaround_indicators.pdf Many options from here. One option to consider: Team option = convene your team in a space with lots of blank walls (refreshments recommended); --post chart papers with each of the major goals or initiatives of your existing school plan listed across the top (strategic plan, SINI plan, Focused Monitoring plan or other); -- distribute the Turnaround Indicators among the team members (pairs probably best); -- ask each pair to record which Turnaround Indicators best match each existing goal or initiative
32
Doing the crosswalk December 17, 201332 Product of the crosswalk = set of indicators to be examined (assessed) for each of the USED Turnaround Principles that align with your ongoing initiatives. What then? Choose those indicators under each principle that offer the greatest likelihood of improving student outcomes to add to your Turnaround Plan
