5. There has been a trend to spiritualize Christ’s blood. We saw this earlier in the Church of England, among the students of R.B. Thieme, and especially among Reformed teachers. Compare the verses we just read with what a well known modern Bible teacher says about Christ’s blood: “It was not Jesus’ physical blood that saves us, but His dying on our behalf, which is symbolized by the shedding of His physical blood. If we could be saved by blood without death, the animals would have been bled, not killed, and it would have been the same with Jesus…the purpose of the blood was to symbolize sacrifice for sin, which brought cleansing from sin. Therefore without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness…” JM - IFCA Convention Q & A Notice the circular logic in this statement. 1.) The blood of Christ only symbolized the death of Christ. 2.) He then asserts that this is why the blood of Christ is required for forgiveness. 3.) If this is true, then a symbol is required for our forgiveness. 4.) Once given that a symbol can save we are one step away from sacramentalizing the elements, making them requirements for salvation, THUS NULLIFYING GRACE! This is only a symbol. Symbols cannot save you. Grace can.

7. The Blood of the Covenant The two phases of the blood-work of Christ The Atonement was consummated in two activities. The blood sacrifice was provided outside the Holy Place. This was done many times (annually) by priests. The blood was sprinkled along the way and was applied inside on the Mercy Seat in the Holy of Holies. This was done many times, (annually) by many priests.

Moses was instructed to build the tabernacle after the pattern of the real Tabernacle of Testimony in heaven. Hebrews 8:1-5 This practice was to be temporary, given under a temporary covenant, the Mosaic Covenant. Hebrews 8:9-13

Christ provided Himself as an offering on the cross, outside of the Holy place.
