Hosted by Government Support The DoE has committed 18m USD (R197m) to SACCCS; 2011 - CCS named a near-term Flagship Programme in the National Climate Change Response White Paper; 2011 - An Inter-Departmental Task Team on CCS established in Pretoria; and 4 May 2012 - Cabinet endorsement of the CCS Roadmap.

Hosted by Zululand Basin - UMHLM Spoken languages – predominantly Zulu at 95% and the rest is English, IsiNdebele and Other; Unemployment, inequality and poverty remain the major economic challenges; Only 2% of the population has tertiary education; More than half of the population survive on less than 46 USD pm; 68% of the community has no access to electricity. No access to potable water (38%) and sanitation (24%) and There is a considerable need for housing;

Hosted by Algoa Basin - SRVLM Located in the CACADU District, Eastern Cape Population - 55 000 Spoken languages – IsiXhosa,(49%),Afrikaans (45%) English (6%) Unemployment - 49% and majority is dependent on social grants/ Pensions; Employment is derived from retailers, tourism, agriculture and community services (EPWP). Eco-tourism and agriculture are two economic drivers; and 31% of the GDP comes from agriculture

Hosted by Stakeholder Engagement The National and Local Stakeholder Plans (NatLoc); Development/review of Integrated Communications Action Plans (ICAPS); Provide Stakeholders with information in a transparent manner; The engagement objectives are intended to: Raise awareness of CCS as a possible mitigation measure; Outline the benefits and potential risks of the CCS technology; Build mutually beneficial relations with stakeholders; and Manage stakeholders expectations to ensure that they are factually informed.
