3 Consumerism and advertising The advertising slogan below is known around the world. In the next two columns, identify which company or product this slogan is advertising and what the slogan says or infers about the product. 6 Consumerism There is a general sense that the world has been taken over so much by the values of capitalist acquisition that alternatives no longer exist. In other words, in our postmodern society, meaning is lost because we rely too heavily on what we have rather than on who we are. All thought becomes highly reliant on capitalism to the detriment of all other forms of thought.
