Blueprint for the Future Begin With The End In Mind (Covey) BHAG’s – Big Hairy Audacious Goals Impact over 1.2 million youth in North Carolina per year by 2015. An abundant supply of well trained, highly-qualified and motivated 4-H agents and program assistants in North Carolina by 2010. Over 120,000 well-trained and motivated 4-H volunteers in North Carolina by 2015. Over $6 million dollars annually raised for 4-H youth programming by 2015.

Blueprint for the Future Clarity of Purpose What are we (NC 4-H) aiming for? A North Carolina where all young people do their very best so that they can compete economically, educationally and live a healthy life. How do we (NC 4-H) work toward this goal? North Carolina 4-H provides youth with opportunities that will enable them to strengthen civic responsibility, prepare for an employable future, and nurture a healthy lifestyle.

State tools that 4-H professionals can adapt and use for conducting evaluation.

Common language about who we are and what we do Materials and images to support the brand Agreeing to some core elements that we will all support while allowing flexibility to address local customer needs and interest.

Blueprint for the Future Review Clarity – we know where we are going. Alignment – we know that we need to move together. Profit (Impact) – we know the importance of demonstrating accountability. Brand – are we supporting the brand?

Blueprint for the Future Action Needed State-level – must align all programs, activities, products and resource development to drive the Long-Range Focus Areas and be able to show how participation results in impact. County-level – participation is critical to ensure that all 4-H programs, activities, products and resource development are presenting a unified 4-H brand.

Blueprint for the Future Call to Action We must agree to support the following initiatives: 4-H Congress 100% of counties participating 4-H Citizenship Conference 100% of counties and legislative districts participating 4-H Camping 100% of counties participating in at least one week of 4-H camp. 100% of counties participating in Camp Challenge 100% of counties participating on one or more 4-H specialty camps. Electric Congress 100% of counties participating in Electric Congress. District Activity Day’s 100% of counties participating in 4-H District Activity Day’s

Blueprint for the Future Call to Action We must agree to support the following initiatives: Scholarships 100% of counties having applicants for 4-H scholarships Curriculum 100% of counties utilizing the state 4-H curriculum products. Competitive Youth Learning Experiences & Opportunities 100% of counties participating in some of the state competitive learning experiences. International Experiences 100% of counties participating at least once in every 5 years in the International Program.

Blueprint for the Future How will we achieve this? Agreeing to work together for the common good of 4-H. Holding each other accountable. Sharing our best practices for moving 4-H forward. Reporting county participation in state initiatives on a regular basis. Providing incentive/credit/recognition for those professionals and counties that participate in state initiatives. Choosing to make sure that every 4-H’er in North Carolina has the opportunity to participate.
