11,000 CPS Students are in JROTC Programs 4 6 Military Academies (High Schools): Carver Military Academy (Army) Chicago Military Academy at Bronzeville (Army) Phoenix Military Academy (Army) Air Force Academy (Air Force) Rickover Naval Academy (Navy) Marine Math and Science (Marine Corps) Total students: 2,570 Students choose military academies through the selective enrollment process, but are selected based on student ‘commitment’ to a military programmatic model, not test scores Students are eligible with a stanine score minimum of 10 and after completing an interview Students wear a uniform 5 days a week Military AcademiesJROTC Programs 15 Middle School Cadet Programs Total Students: 471 44 High School Programs Army: 31 programs, 6,858 Students Navy: 3 Programs, 366 Students Marine Corps: 2 Programs, 266 Students Air Force: 1 Program, 116 Students Total Students: 7,606 Students can earn PE Credit for their participation in JROTC – one class period per day Where programs exist, they typically constitute 10-20% of the HS student population JROTC programs offer rich opportunities for intra-school competitions, trips to college campuses, and extended learning Students wear a uniform 1 day a week +
