7. cooperative work with the State demographer has been undertaken to assess growth scenarios across Kimberley settlements in an aspirational investment environment. Long term sustainable growth rates have been agreed across all the Kimberley settlement types ranging from 1-5% AAGR to 2036 The implication is an aspirational AAGR for the region of 3.65% or 92,000 people by 2036 Broome, Kununurra and Derby would have more than 43,000, 15,000 and 8,000 people respectively.

8. a regional population of 92,000 people would need 34,000 ‘new’ jobs assessment of industries of comparative advantage shows they are set to create nearly 15,000 additional jobs Growth in other industries at rates between system and aspiration could create another 18-19,000 jobs

10. robust and achievable targets have been determined for population, employment and production value for key industries. A set of approximately 45 rigourous metrics is being designed for their ability contribute to shaping projects, initiatives and policies that support and drive Blueprint targets The Blueprint meets its most demanding challenges without flinching from the opportunity or responsibility

11. major industries in mining, oil and gas, the pastoral and agricultural sectors have already commenced strong growth Significant investments are underway in the Ord, in ‘Water for Food’ areas and in Broome’s rejuventation, accessing a wide range of public, private, foreign and domestic investment. Innovative Housing Initiatives are already underway Major native title settlements in the east and west Kimberley are in place

12. Initiatives consistent with the Blueprint have already commenced. The blueprint practices and processes do and can not supercede the due diligence of investors but they can shape outcomes, focus policy and direct government effort for best effect.
