Definition of Full Implementation: District is able to provide evidence that an ongoing process is in place to ensure that each and every student is learning the Essential Concepts and Skill Sets of the Iowa Core Curriculum. A district that has fully implemented the Iowa Core Curriculum is engaged in an ongoing process of data gathering and analysis, decision making, identifying actions, and assessing impact around alignment and professional development focused on content, instruction, and assessment. The district is fully engaged in a continuous improvement process that specifically targets improved student learning and performance. In working towards full implementation each plan will address and show evidence of the alignment among the six outcomes. Current and planned activities, resources, evidence of progress will show how that alignment will be established and maintained.

Four Major Claims for Math 1. Students can explain and apply mathematical concepts and carry out mathematical procedure with precision and fluency. 2. Students can frame and solve a range of complex problems in pure and applied mathematics. 3. Students can clearly and precisely construct viable arguments to support their own reasoning and to critique the reasoning of others. 4. Students can analyze complex, real world scenarios and use mathematical models to interpret and solve problems.

View Assessments Assessment packets contain a reading, writing and math example. As you view these please discuss these points: 1. What do you see that is the same with the way you are assessing now? 2. What do you see that is different with the way you are assessing now? 3. What will you do to start closing the gap between same and different?
