PLASA - THE ORGANISATION PLASA actively represents businesses and specialists across the live events, entertainment, communication and architectural industries. Our role is to provide leadership, protect everyone’s interests, develop industry skills and deliver substantial and tangible commercial benefits to enhance the effectiveness of our members.
2
THE PLASA MEMBERSHIP Nearly 600 businesses and consultancies are part of the PLASA network. They range from corporates to SMEs to individual specialists and operate across the globe, focusing on delivering professional technologies and services to a diverse range of clients. All of these businesses believe in and work to the PLASA Code of Professional Practice.
3
DEVELOPING INDUSTRY SKILLS PLASA is actively leading the development of qualifications for the sector. Our aim is to provide recognition for your skills and set the benchmark for best practice. We are the only trade association in the sector to be recognised as an Awarding Body by the QCA.
4
DEVELOPING INDUSTRY SKILLS Last year we launched the new PLASA National Rigging Certificate. To date 320+ people have registered and over 70 riggers have achieved either Level 2 or 3. We are also developing NVQs for the audio and audio-visual sectors. We intend to use these as the blueprint for a series of technical qualifications.
5
PROTECTING YOUR INTERESTS PLASA is an active lobbyist. We employ a political consultancy to influence policy. We lobbied Ofcom on the radio spectrum sell-off and won key concessions. We act as a radar for members, identifying relevant regulations and providing guidance on their adoption and implementation.
6
A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE PLASA is working closely with other organisations in the industry to ensure we have a sustainable future. We were the first organisation to launch a BS 8901 programme designed to help our members achieve compliance with this new event management standard. We believe it will become a default requirement of events industry tenders and contracts.
