2 Working With Graphs This interactive tutorial is designed to explain how to write & read tally marks and to allow students to gain practice with reading information on graphs.

3 How are Graphs Helpful? Bar Graph Pie Chart We can use a graph to show information we collect about our classmates. The bar graph tells how many pets our classmates have. The pie chart shows our favorite ice cream flavors.

12 What are tally marks and how do we write them? Tally marks should be written in a specific five pattern so that they are always easy to count by fives. The fifth tally mark should cross the other four to make a set of five.
