Slide#: 48© GPS Financial Services 2008-2009Revised 05/23/2009 "Path/File Access Error" Message Dialing to Authorize a Credit Card. Question: When dialing out to authorize a credit card sale using PCcharge Pro ™ a Path/File Access error message appears even though the path has been properly entered in POS. Answer: This is caused by the PCCW folder not having the correct rights to allow Cougar Mountain Software to write the file to it. Resolution: To confirm the problem, open My Computer or Windows Explorer, locate the folder that PC Charge Pro is installed in (usually C:\Program Files\PCCW\ or C:\Cougar\PCCW\ on the server), and try to add or copy a file to that folder from the workstation. The sever will probably not allow this. To correct the problem log on to the server with administrative rights, share the PC Charge installation folder and verify that everyone has full control of the folder (PCCW). cms 2 CC PCcharge+ ™ Troubleshooting

Slide#: 49© GPS Financial Services 2008-2009Revised 05/23/2009 Suggest you put it in a directory called \PCCW on the network drive that has your Cougar Mtn files (eg. The way PC Charge works, is to scan its directory for a particular file name that cougar puts there. When it sees it, it opens it and gets the approval and writes a file with the approval info. The decline is occurring due to the Last Valid Year currently supported by the PCcharge Pro ™ software, which has not been updated to support cards issued with an expiration date of 2013 or greater.” cms 2 CC PCcharge+ ™ Troubleshooting
52
Slide#: 52© GPS Financial Services 2008-2009Revised 05/23/2009 Explanation: By default, PCcharge Pro ™ currently sets the last valid year for an expiration date to be 2012. Any card with an expiration date greater than 2012 will not be passed on to the processing network for authorization. It is a local decline on the PCcharge Pro ™ system. Steps to change Last Valid Year: – Go to Set-Up Menu – Select Preferences – Update Last Valid Year with a 2-digit (yy) numeric year in the future to support all upcoming future re-issued card types. For example, change the Last Valid Year to "20“ cms 2 CC PCcharge+ ™ Troubleshooting

Question: How can I get PCcharge to work using Remote connections? Answer: PCcharge Pro ™ must be running on one of the stations, and it runs fine that way. But for it to retain information, it must be mapped over to the File Server so that any transactions are retained in memory. Install PCcharge Pro ™ fully on the File Server, then run its client program onto the Admin layer to give the Clients access, putting the icon in the user menu.
