What is MEDLIFE? MEDLIFE is actually an acronym! – Medicine Education and Development for Low Income Families Everywhere!

Goals of MEDLIFE Provide medicine to the underprivileged and poor Aim to educate people on living healthy lifestyles and learning how to combat common illnesses Help develop sustainable structures such as staircases, bathrooms, and schools

Where do we work? – Lima, Peru – Cusco, Peru – Tena, Ecuador – Riobamba, Ecuador – Esmeraldas Ecuador – Moshi (Kilimanjaro), Tanzania

Becoming a MEDLIFE OSU Member ●$10 Membership fee per semester o Collecting dues for next two meetings and during a selected time at the Union. o Can pay with cash or BuckID o No collection after the deadline - can still participate in certain events/meetings but not “member only” events (ex. suture clinic) o Deadline is February 18 th

Membership ●Benefits o Special events, food at meetings, Kaplan codes, inclusion on resume, trip priority, and leadership/committee positions ●Attend two events per semester (meeting, fundraiser, volunteer, or social event)

Spring 5K ●April 12 th at Fred Beekman Park starting at 10am ●Walk and Run race ●Raise money for school in Guamote ●Opportunities for joining Ryan’s Fundraising committee and/or volunteering day of race ●Meet with Ryan after the meeting if interested!

Blood Drive ●Red Cross Blood Drive at Postle Hall room 1180 on January 22nd 11am-5pm ●Sign up to volunteer on google doc online - sent in email ●You may also sign up to donate!

MEDLIFE Party ●Start of the semester MEDLIFE Party at Ryan O’Neill’s house on 13th Ave ●January 31st starting at 9PM ●Keg provided

Joining Committees ●Committees are a great way to get involved ●Recruitment committee run by Haley Lehmkuhl - get the word out about MEDLIFE and our trips. Help advertise and design MEDLIFE posters/apparel ●Fundraising committee run by Ryan O’Neill to help with fundraising events like the 5K, bake sales, and bar fundraisers ●Sign up at end of meeting!

Trip Details ● Duration: Saturday March 14 th - Sunday March 22 nd (our spring break is March 16-20) ●Shadow doctors, participate in a community development project, teach little kids how to brush their teeth, explain the importance of hygiene, a balanced diet, and STD protection, visit popular tourist spots, meet students from other universities, and much more! ● Total Cost: ~$2,300- $2,900 ● $805 MEDLIFE application fee (covers your breakfast, lunch, dinner, in- country transportation, 7-day hostel stay, and tourism), ~$1,300 airfare, $37 OSU supplemental health insurance, $600 to visit Machu Picchu (OPTIONAL), ~200 spending money, immunizations, bug spray/ sunscreen ● If you’re interested in attending the trip, please sign the interest sheet at the front of the room at the end of the meeting! ● Trip specific questions? 50:50 Campaign ● Raise money for your trip and for MEDLIFE ● Reduce the cost of your participation in a mobile clinic ● 50% of what you raise goes toward your participation fee ● 50% goes to MEDLIFE Mission Fund ● Tax deductible!
