Cards not pulled are collected as soon as the bell rings. This is how we know you are tardy or absent! Pulling someone else’s card, or otherwise “messing with” the system, is a serious offense and is grounds for an immediate detention. Let’s try it! 5. “THE CASK OF AMONTILLADO” A story of revenge ! Poe and his rival, Thomas Dunn English, often mocked each other in their stories. “The Cask of Amontillado” is a response to one of English’s most direct attacks of Poe as a drunkard, a liar, and an abusive lover. As we read, listen for Poe trying to work out his own feelings about revenge through his writing.
