- 2 - 21/06/2005 direction générale de l’Aviation civile direction des services de la Navigation aérienne direction de la Technique et de l’Innovation ADS-B out : Statement of issue ADS-B out : Broadcast of identification, position, altitude, velocity, Navigation integrity data by the aircraft –1090 ES technology –Used initially for radar-like surveillance service by ATC Part of ADS-B Package 1 application : ADS-B NRA, ADS-B ACC, ADS-B TMA, ADS-B APT, ADS-B ADD Ground stations are easy to install and much cheaper than radar ADS-B separation standard under approval by ICAO –5 Nm separation already approved by Australia under specific conditions –Simple installation in the aircraft : transponder + GNSS receiver –Currently under implementation : Australia, US, France (La Réunion Island), CASCADE program in EUROCONTROL Stream 1 : 2008-2011 Mediterranean project

- 3 - 21/06/2005 direction générale de l’Aviation civile direction des services de la Navigation aérienne direction de la Technique et de l’Innovation ADS-B Installation Many aircraft are already fitted with ADS-B capabilities –Many Mode S transponders for Enhanced surveillance are capable of ADS-B –No certification of ADS-B data, only non interference considerations –Guidance material was needed : PP039 First draft developped for the june 2005 meeeting Second draft discussed in Berlin : steering group draft –Proposal for a preliminary RIA Received comments and additional input from RFG included in version 3

- 4 - 21/06/2005 direction générale de l’Aviation civile direction des services de la Navigation aérienne direction de la Technique et de l’Innovation Proposed guidance material Guidance for installation, certification and maintenance of ADS-B installation ADS-B system compliant with ED102/DO260 as a minimum –Identification of the aircraft –Barometric altitude shall be provided and geometric altitude may be provided –Position shall be provided with quality indicators NUC or NIC/NAC/SIL If NUC is provided, its value must correspond to HIL (Horizontal Integrity Limit) GNSS capability required for separation purpose (NUC >= 5) –Receiver compliant with TSO C129 (+ FDE + continuous RAIM 0,3 Nm) or TSO C145/C146 –Periodic update interval of at least 1 s
