This last week of Lent follows Jesus’ Passion on Palm Sunday to His death on Good Friday and then to His rising on Easter Sunday. Holy Week
2
Passion Sunday This Feast reminds us of the grand entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. He is hailed as king and “Messiah.” But, this jubilation does not last; it is superficial. Within the next few days they clamour for His death!
3
How do I relate to Jesus? As Saviour, servant...? When my faith or life is being tested, “Do I abandon Jesus like the crowd?” “Is my commitment to Jesus also fickle and superficial?” A Reflection on How Palm Sunday affects my life:
4
But, Jesus says, “If you want to be a follower of mine, take up your cross and come follow me.” Let us then ask ourselves: -What “crosses” am I refusing to carry in my daily life? - Am I a cross for others? Am I tempted to be like the crowd to “give up”? Do I hear myself saying, “Being a Christian is too difficult... the crosses are too heavy!”
5
Do you feel Christ’s intense love for you? Am I aware of the agony He suffered? My suffering/”crosses”are light in contrast to Our Lord’s agony. Our Lord persevered to the end simply for my sake. He truly loves me. Yes, He does!
6
What is my response to Our Lord’s love for me like? Ponder for a moment: What have I done for Christ? What am I doing for Christ? What ought I do for Christ?
7
Remember : In prayer we meet Christ, and in Him all human suffering. In service we meet people, and in them the suffering Christ.
