The Australian Magpie is black and white, if it is a male, the back of the neck will be white, if it’s a female, it will be grey. Magpies are found all over Australia Magpies live to about 14 years and over.

Maggies pick at the ground for food like insects an there larvae. Maggies swallow small insects whole and break up large foods. A magpie is known to go into open houses to beg for food.

A magpies nest is usually made of wool, twigs and grass. A magpie can lay up to 3-5 eggs. These eggs are either green or pink with brown marks or dots. They nest from August to October The eggs take 4 weeks to hatch

Magpies are tame during most of the year, but in breeding season they become quite aggressive. Magpies swoop to defend their nest. Two of the way you can avoid a swoop: -Put a picture of some human eyes on the back of a helmet or hat -look directly at the magpie when you go through the area
