The Light and the Lights Matthew 5:14-16

14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matt. 5:14-16

The Light and the Lights We Mirror His Light –He is THE Light, we walk in light –He is Light, we are lights 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13.

The Light of Morality Let your lights shine

14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matt. 5:14-16

The Light of Morality Let your lights shine Men in darkness show their darkness by their deeds. Christians in the light show their lights by their actions.

The Light of Morality Let your lights shine Men in darkness show their darkness by their deeds. Christians in the light show their lights by their actions. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John 3:19

The Light of Morality One of the characteristics of the world in which we live is the lowering of standards. Standards of honesty, standards of diligence in work, standards of conscienti-ousness, moral standards, all tend to be lowered. The Christian must be the person who holds aloft the standard of absolute purity in speech, in conduct, and even in thought... No Christian can depart from the standards of strict honesty. No Christian can think lightly of the lowering of moral standards in a world where the streets of every great city provide their deliberate enticements to sin. No Christian can allow himself the tarnished and suggestive jests which are so often part of social conversation. The Christian cannot withdraw from the world, but he must, as James said, keep himself "unspotted from the world." (Jas 1:27).

The Light of Doctrine Phil. 2:14-16

14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Phil. 2:14-16 The Light of Doctrine Phil. 2:14-16

The Light of Doctrine Phil. 2:14-16 Not let it shine, but shine it!

The Light of Doctrine Phil. 2:14-16 Not let it shine, but shine it! Morality will attract, but will not teach

The Light of Doctrine Phil. 2:14-16 Not let it shine, but shine it! Morality will attract, but will not teach Teaching doctrine is not optional

The Light of Doctrine Phil. 2:14-16 Not let it shine, but shine it! Morality will attract, but will not teach Teaching doctrine is not optional 27 Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. Matt. 10:27

The Light of Doctrine Phil. 2:14-16 Not let it shine, but shine it! Morality will attract, but will not teach Teaching doctrine is not optional To fail to teach is to say, “You should’ve stayed in heaven!”
