The Costs… Initial Cost = $70,000 Local business contribution of $37,500 City of Pocatello contribution of $20,000 Remainder paid by Bannock County Solid Waste

What We Accept… Grass Leaves Cut flowers Garden waste Manure Hay Straw Up to 1,000 tons of compostable material accepted each year.

The Process Accept material Mixed at 50% each Grass & Leaves Other items as needed Watered as needed with truck Turned with Backhoe Cooked to 140° Loader used when purchased

Expansion A need for more space prompted the relocation to a 3 acre site.

Initial Uses Compost was first used by Bannock County Fairgrounds and Solid Waste for erosion control. The City of Pocatello also used it for beautification projects.

Reaching Our Goal Compost for Sale Resolution passed September 2012 Grant for $20,000 in conjunction with City of Pocatello from the ID DEQ Grant was for Advertising & Curbside Collection

Success – with a Cost Before we could sell our Compost, it had to be screened and tested. Screening Cost $9,150 Testing Cost $300 Labor and Equipment Costs were $44,000 Sold 735 tons at $35 per ton which totaled $25,865
