SDA Challenge: Become a Word Warrior!

 Here comes Set #2 of your Word Warriors vocabulary words! Remember, if you work hard you can win awards and prizes at the end of camp!  If you know 13-14 words then you’ll be a Jargon General and you’ll win your very own Scrabble Slam Card Game!  If you know 15-16 words then you’ll be a Term Trooper and you’ll win your very own Scrabble Slam Card Game!  If you know 17-19 words then you’ll be a Word Warrior and you’ll win your very own Scrabble Slam Card Game AND a Boggle Reinvention Game!  So work hard this week and show off what you know on this Friday’s Final Activity!

 If someone bellows, they shout angrily in a loud, deep voice.  Example: “You’re grounded for two weeks!” bellowed the mother to her daughter.

 Example: “I will now demonstrate how to cut the man in half!” shouted the magician.  Shout Out: If you had to demonstrate an interesting thing that you can do, what would it be?  If you demonstrate something to someone, you show them how it works.

 If you say that someone or something is fortunate, you mean that they are lucky.  Example: Last week there was a car accident, but, fortunately, no one was hurt.  Think About It : If fortunate means lucky, then what does unfortunate mean?

 If you hesitate to do something, you delay doing it, usually because you are unsure it would be right.  Example: “If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask,” said the teacher to her students.  Think About It: When might it be good to hesitate to make a decision?

 If you refuse to do something, you deliberately do not do it, or you say firmly that you will not do it.  Example: The lawyer refused to comment after the trial.

FORBID (VERB)  Example: “I forbid you from coming into my room!” I screamed at my brother.  If you forbid someone from doing something, you say that they are not allowed to do it.

 Now that you’ve seen your Word Warriors challenge words for the week… make sure you work hard on the W.W. Activities to master their meanings.  On Friday, show your stuff on the Set 1 Final Activity!  Are you up to the challenge?
