5 Bengal Bamboo  Bengal Bamboo can grow between 40 and 80 feet tall.  It grows very tall, fast so it gets lots of rain and sunlight.  The long and narrow leaves grow on opposite sides of the plant in two columns.  In two to three months it’s full grown.  It’s life span is 25 to 40 years.

6 Bougainvillea  It can reach up to 30 feet.  It has many hooks so it can cling and hold on to other plants for support.  It can either be vines, trees, or shrubs.  Insects, caterpillars, and aphids eat it.  It provides shelter for animals on the rainforest floor.  The plants flowers can either be pink, red, orange, white, or yellow.

7 Coconut Tree  It can grow between 50 and 80 feet tall.  It’s leaves are yellow green.  One tree can produce up to 50 coconuts.  The trunks are used to stabilize buildings.  The leaves are used to make mats, baskets, and hats.  It can live in very wet or dry areas.  When it decays, insects swarm the tree and eat it.

9 Rainforest Animals Flying Dragon  7 ½ to 8 ½ inches  Buries 1 to 4 eggs in soil  Eats ants and termites, nothing eats it  Non-Threatened  Has flaps for gliding from tree to tree Capybara  3 ½ to 4 ¼ feet  “ When swimming, only, it’s eyes, ears, and nostrils show above the water  Eats plants, on land and in water, nothing eats it  Non-Threatened  The largest rodent in the world

10 The Chimpanzee  26 ¾ to 37 inches long and 4 to 5 ½ feet tall  Intelligent, social animal  Eats plant material, nothing eats it  Endangered  “ Has a wide range of sounds and gestures for communication
