Where is it? The Daintree Rainforest is a tropical rainforest on the North East Coast of Queensland, Australia. The tropical rainforest grows right down to the sea edge.

How old is it? The Daintree Rainforest is believed to be 135 million years old. Tens of millions of years older than the Amazon Rainforest.

What is the climate like?

How big is it? The size of the forest is 1200 square kilometres. There is many natural and unique features which include Mountain ranges, streams and waterfalls, deep gorges and white sandy beaches.

Which plants can be found?
One of the rarest and most Original of the flowering Plants discovered is known as The idiot fruit. From a total of 19 original flowering plant families on earth, 13 families are found in the Daintree forest which humans depend for food and medicines. Which animals live there?

How do humans use the forest?
Today some Aboriginal people still live in the rain forest. The people of the rain forest use it in many ways such as it’s fruits, water, strong trees that they can use to build strong houses. The wetness also helps by keeping the soil perfect for cropping. Scientists use the rain forest for research for medicines and food. 436,000 tourist visit the rain forest every year.
