A rainforest can get 200 to 300 inches of rain a year. There are trees that grows up to be 250 feet tall. There is not much that grows on the forest floor. A rainforest now looks about the same as it did a million years ago. The temperature in the rainforest is 70 to 80 degrees. The rainforest is cool and dark at the bottom.

Bromlaid is a type of plant that grows on trees and the forest floor. In the rainforest you can find 7 different kinds of ferns. Kapok trees can grow up to be 150 to 200 feet tall. Bamboo is the largest grass in the world and is only found in the rainforest. Sugar Cane is also found there and is 10 feet tall with lots of sugar. Buttresses plants can rise 30 feet high into the rainforest.

Anteaters have tongues to carry a baby. Cook-of-the-Rock, which is a bird, builds nests on boulders. A dragonfly’s wing span is up to 7 inches wide. Humming birds have feathers that shimmer and shine. Iguanas eat plants and insects. The Urania Butterfly has colors to help them get a mate.
