ENVIROMENTAL PROBLEMS Urban environmental problems come from urban irregular areas, and lack of government investment in infrastructure. Problems: the pollution of rivers and lakes affecting the water; pollution of groundwater that supply the city; poverty, mortality, and health due to lack of sanitation environmentalist! deterioration of quality of life of citizens. Solutions: the practice of urban planning and management. The Government having sensitivity in implementing reforms of environmental character to promote sustainable urban development.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESERVE Most of the original vegetation in the city, the Mata Atlantica, a rainforest, was devastated. But the city still houses a small part of Atlantica forest reserve, which is located in the Parque das Dunas Parque das Dunas objetives: ensure the preservation and conservation of natural ecosystems; protect genetic resources; enable the realization of studies and researches; preserve historic sites The original flora of Natal has a predominance of plants such as Brazil Tree. MANGROVES Despite restoration efforts, over half of the world's mangroves have been destroyed by developers and others in recent times. The mangroves protect coastal areas from erosion and offer a quiet marine region for young organisms, oysters, sponges, shrimps, mud lobsters and critical species of fish and birds. People have to raise awareness of their importance.
