Colour Psychology

The Seven Deadly Sins (of PowerPoint) There are seven deadly sins of PowerPoint that I have identified. These comprise poor use of colour as demonstrated in slide number two, excessive use of animations seen in slide three, the distraction of sound effects in slide four, unnecessary clip art as seen in slide five, a lack of appreciation of the psychology of colour (I’m still having nightmares about slide number seven), and of course how could we forget sin number seven????

Questions ?

Summary Remember what the presentation is for! –It’s easier and quicker to prepare a simple presentation. Think about the font you use. –Times fonts work well in print, but project poorly. Animation can work well to introduce new points. –But it often distracts!

Summary Sound effects are a bad idea! Clipart may help to make a point, but don’t feel that you have to decorate a plain slide. Think about how colours make us feel. –How do you want your audience to feel? Don’t overcrowd.
