The first part of today we will spend learning about commas! When we read, commas help us know where to pause and read correctly When we write, commas help us make our sentences stronger! You will receive a graphic organizer to help you write the definitions of some comma rules!

Comma Rule # 1 Use commas to separate items in a series Example: I had apples, cereal, and orange juice for breakfast this morning.

Use commas between coordinate adjectives (words that describe nouns). What are coordinate adjectives? ◦ 2 adjectives that are next to each other in a sentence Example: “Joey is a shy, observant boy.”
