SCIENCE FICTIONFICTION A form of fiction that draws imaginatively on scientific knowledge and speculation in its plot, setting, theme, etc. Examples include: The Uglies series and back to the Future The class of literature comprising works of imaginative narration, especially in prose form. Examples include fairy tales. Science fiction is a sub- category of fiction.

SCIENCE FICTIONREALISTIC FICTION A form of fiction that draws imaginatively on scientific knowledge and speculation in its plot, setting, theme, etc. Science fiction often tries to teleport a reader into another world. Often with extravagant details. Realistic fiction, does use untrue events. The events in realistic fiction although fake, can or could be real. Realistic fiction strives to make a reader feel as if the events are actually happening or could happen. Similarities: Both have themes and are made up.
