Course 101: Assessment Administration: Law, Procedures & Valuation (the basic course for assessors and assistant assessors) is held three times per year at various locations statewide Training for Local Officials Successful completion of Course 101 is required by state regulation

New Officials Finance Forum: A one day workshop for newly elected and appointed officials usually held in early June. Includes presentations from DLS staff as well as hands on exercises. Informational materials are provided. Training for Local Officials

“What’s New in Municipal Law”: A one-day seminar given in two locations, designed to make officials aware of new laws and pertinent cases that may impact local governments Mass General Laws Training for Local Officials

Publications City & TownCity & Town is a publication distributed electronically to approximately 2,500 local and state officials, as well as DOR employees. This newsletter includes articles and fiscal analyses on topics of interest to local officials City &Town

Public Information DLS fills many requests for public information from local officials, state legislators and taxpayers, annually. Requestors are encouraged to obtain information and publications on the Division’s websiteDivision’s website www.mass.gov/dls

On-Site Technical Assistance Deputy Commissioner and Director of Municipal Affairs, Robert G. Nunes, conducts on-site meetings with local officials to help resolve financial issues in their communities DLS provides legal and or financial assistance to communities upon request in an effort to ensure that they maximize efficiencies, maintain balanced budgets and remain in full compliance with legal requirements MENU
