Exchange Programs are offered by XU’s Center for International Education. Exchange programs allow students to study at a university with which XU has a special agreement. Under an exchange program, students pay the equivalent of full-time XU tuition and fees and then pay housing and other costs to the host university. These programs are competitive, and are generally for a semester or an academic year.

Third Party Study Abroad Programs are offered in the Center for International Education. These programs are coordinated and managed by outside organizations and companies. There are also programs that offer integrated classes with local students. Program costs are set by each program provider and vary with the length of program, location and cost of living.

Xavier Faculty-Led Programs offer the opportunity to travel abroad with a faculty member. These programs most often run in the summer, for two to five weeks, and are led and coordinated by the faculty member in charge. Program costs may include XU tuition, a program fee, plus any associated costs.

Solidarity Semesters The solidarity semesters combine 15+ credit hours of academic study with community service under the guidance and supervision of Xavier University faculty. A primary goal of the entire semester is integration of the academic study with the experience of service. You will receive credit for study abroad at XU ◦Major, Minor, Core, Elective or even “extra” Free Electives Your academic advisor will work with you to determine how classes taken abroad count at XU You must be full-time, which means you earn a full semester of credits for Fall/Spring programs Summer programs do not require full- time enrollment

Financial Aid The program you choose determines what Financial Aid can be used for study abroad.
