History of LA Tech Advisory Board  Starting approximately 1980 Alumni returned periodically for class visits and faculty workshops  Alpha Eta Rho began an annual end of school year awards banquet during the 1990’s – Alumni participated as keynote speakers and in other capacities  AVFEST (an annual Aviation themed weekend) was begun about 2000. Alumni and Members of the IAB are integrally involved.  Informal “volunteer” advisory sessions were held on an irregular basis and always at AVFEST  In 2006 a committee was formed to formalize the advisory board and meetings were held between Alumni, Faculty and the Dean of the College to gain approval

3. Meetings of the LA Tech IAB  Primary meeting associated with AVFEST (always held the last weekend in April)  Fall Meeting held during the LA Tech Homecoming weekend  Other business generally handled via an online forum which was established in 2008  The by-laws designate some business to be simple business which can be handled at one of the on-campus meetings in the spring and the fall. Other business must go to a vote via the on-line forum  The on-line forum has had 3181 posts to date.  Also available on the forum are posted files of minutes, membership, by-laws, etc.

4. Highlights of past activities of Tech IAB  On-line forum for students to interact with alumni. Networking opportunities and job postings are almost daily occurrences. There have been 17,805 posts to date.  Mock Interview process for students  Annual “State of the Airline Industry” presentation for students, parents of students and faculty  IAB provided scholarships awarded at AVFEST annually.  Various classes taught during the school year: Professionalism, RVSM, International Flight Requirements, Airline Economics, Crew Resource Management, etc.  Direct involvement of the IAB with the AABI team during the last two university visits
