INTRODUCTION TIMELINE Have you ever wondered about Lewis & Clark? Well today you’ll be learning all about….I hope you Enjoy yourself. June 20,1803- President Jefferson writes a letter to his Secretary, Meriwether Lewis, asking him to lead an expedition to Pacific Ocean July 4,1804- Louisiana Purchase is announced more than doubling the size of the US. May 14, 1804-the expedition begins up the Missouri with about forty members and Lewis's Newfoundland dog, Seaman. This group of volunteers is know as the Corps of Discovery. November 4, 1804 Lewis & Clark meet and hire Toussaint Charbonneau and Sacagawea as interpreters.

IMPORTANT PEOPLE t Meriwether Lewis was important to because he was the leader of the group, and documented many new plant and mineral discoveries. William Clark was his partner and not only navigated the trip across the territory but mapped the new lands. Thomas Jefferson was important because he was the one who launched the Expedition after the Louisiana Purchase. Sacagawea and her husband Toussaint Charbonneau were vital to the trips success by acting as translators and easing relations with Native Americans.

December 21 1804-the Louisiana territory is apart of the U.S. ere Sacagawea and her husband Toussaint Charbonneau by translating to other natives or French. And other on may 14, 1804-the expedition begins up the Missouri with about forty members and Lewis's Newfoundland dog, Seaman and on November 4 Lewis & Clark meet and hire Toussaint Charbonneau and Sacagawea as Interpreters. The important people that help them along the way w natives Americans. Also Thomas Jefferson was important because he was the one who started the Expedition. And Meriwether Lewis was important to because he was the one who lead the group, and discover the land. Also William Clark because he was the partner of the captain and wrote maps. The significant was that they purchase the Louisiana territory. also they defeated the first grizzly bear. And they got to the pacific ocean. She's important because she helped lead the group thru Indian territory. She also knew how to make Medicine out of the available natural herbs and could translate with local tribes. SACAJAWEA

TOUSSAINT CHARBONNEAU He helped by translating to French people and other Indian tribes the expedition encountered.
