History of baseball o The first organized baseball game was played in Hoboken, New Jersey. The New York Nine beat the Knickerbockers by a score of 23 to 1 on June, 1846. o In 1845 Alexander Cartwright and Daniel Doc made the first set of rules for baseball.

Charles Radbourn o He was born on December 9, 1854 in Rochester, New York. o Son of Charles and Caroline, he had three sisters and two brothers. o He earned his nickname “old Hoss” because of his hard work. o His record of 60 wins in one season still stands today o He was one player effectively to utilize the curveball. o His team won the champion ship. o He also continued to pitch underhand even when underhand pitching became legal. o Such as pitching a no-hit game verse Cleveland of national league on July 25,1883.

Michael Wacha o He grew up in Texarkana, Texas where his parents Tom and Karen gave birth to him and his two brothers( Lucus and Charlie) also his sister ( Brette). o His uncle played for the Cincinnati Reds. o He played in college A.N.M.

Glossary o Knickerbockers- A baseball team that played in the first game. o Championship- The position or title of champion. o Curveball- Baseball any of several pitches that veer to the left when thrown with your hand. o Underhand- A pitch that softball or baseball players do. o National League- When two teams play.
