7. What is a hero? Most kids my age would say that a hero is someone with super powers, a secret identity and a cool costume with a cape and mask. Webster’s Dictionary defines hero as “someone admired for their achievements and noble qualities.” I think more kids need to read the dictionary. You are all heroes. Believe it or not, like it or not, you are. At some point in your life, you decided that you were going to leave your family and friends to protect my rights and freedom. You decided to endure mental and physical training to strengthen your mind and body. You decided to fight for those who could not, or would not fight for themselves. That is quite an achievement. At school, we have a bully prevention system. Our teachers stand up for the students that are picked on, so that they don’t have to be afraid. Soldiers like you stand up to the bullies of the world so that we do not have to be afraid. If that is not a noble quality, then I don’t know what is. So, not only by definition are you all heroes, but by your deeds as well. I have learned how important our freedom is, and only through the sacrifices of soldiers like you has it survived. Thank you, each and every one of you, for your service. You are my heroes.

13. On Oct 12, 2013, Squadron 208 cooked fish on their new fryer/ trailer at their Wounded Warrior Benefit. Catfish dinners, auctions, silent auctions and t-shirt sales netted about $20,000. Out take was $10,000 which went into their program of hunting, fishing and baseball game trips for the local wounded warriors.
