It seriously feels like the school year has just started. I hope that you were able to get to the Tiki Tiki Ha Ha this week at Pinecrest. For the short time I was there, it sure looked like a lot of fun! In December, we are going to be starting Literature Circles! Literature Circles are reading groups of four to five student. All of the students in the group individually read the same book at the same pace (outside of class) and then get together to discuss it. Each member in the group will have a role to do every night they read. We will be doing Literature Circles until the end of the year, which will provide your kids with a great opportunity to read some awesome books! We are going to all be reading the book “Because of Winn- Dixie” throughout December and I will be teaching the kids about each of the Literature Circle roles as we go. They will be on there own in January and will have a new book each month. Literature Circles are a great way to learn, and we are excited to start them. I am sending a letter home tonight about a trip we are going to make to Park Ridge Retirement Home in December. We will be going over there to sing some Christmas Carols to the residents. This is one of a few times we will be going over there this year. Attached to the letter is a permission form that will cover all future walking field trips to Park Ridge. Our Star of the Week next week will be Sydney O. Thank you very much for everything you do for your kids! If you have any questions for me please don’t hesitate to e-mail or call. Have a great weekend! - Mr. Fox Thanksgiving Edition
