CONSERVATION OF MASS LAB IS MASS CONSERVED IN ALL PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHANGES?

When salt dissolves in water, is there a change in mass? 1.Fill a plastic vial halfway with water 2.Place a small amount of salt in the cap of the vial

Mass the Vial with Water and the Cap with Salt.

Carefully mix the salt and water and mass.

When ice melts, is mass conserved? 1.Add 2 or 3 cubes of ice to a vial and cap. 2.Be sure to wipe off any condensation.

Mass a vial with ice. Be sure to wipe off any condensation!

Mass the vial after the ice has melted.

Be sure to wipe away any condensation!!

When 2 solutions are mixed and a precipitate forms, is mass conserved? Fill 1/3 of a vial with Liquid A and 1/3 of a second vial with Liquid B.

Add Liquid A and Liquid B to vials and mass.

Mix the liquids and mass both vials and caps.

When Alka Seltzer is mixed with water and a gas is formed, is mass conserved? Does gas have mass?

Tape ½ of an Alka Seltzer tablet to the jar lid. Fill the jar 1/3 the way with water.

Mass the jar and the lid.

Mix the Alka Seltzer and water and mass.

Do not leave the jar on its lid OR……….
