Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

“Does making a difference really matter?” “How can I make a difference?” The way we live can make a difference. Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

If we are to live lives that make a difference in the world, we must live lives that are different from the world. We must rise above the usual like an eagle rises on the wind. “It’s difficult to soar with the eagles when you’re walking with the turkeys." Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles." - Isaiah 40:31 Live a life of direction! Stay focused to your goal. Lead a life marked by conviction and singleness of purpose. Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

We can do NOTHING without God! You can live a life of direction only when you have constant communication with your Heavenly Father. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:18 Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive. – Matthew 21:22. Live a life of dedication! Christ must be the center of who you are and what you do. Be men and women of integrity! Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

“The greatest want of the world is the want of men [and women] who will not be bought or sold; men [and women] who in their inmost souls are true and honest; men [and women] who do not fear to call sin by its right name; men [and women] whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle is to the pole; men [and women] who will stand for the right though the heavens fall." E. G. WHITE, Education Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

“One and God make a majority.” Frederick Douglass One is a Big Number One song can spark a moment, One flower can wake the dream. One tree can start a forest, One bird can herald spring. Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

One smile begins a friendship, One handclasp lifts a soul. One star can guide a ship at sea, One word can frame the goal. One vote can change a nation, One sunbeam lights a room. One candle wipes out darkness, One laugh will conquer gloom. Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

One step must start each journey, One word must start each prayer. One hope will raise our spirits, One touch can show you care. One voice can speak with wisdom, One heart can know what's true. One life can make the difference, You see it's up to YOU! Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

Helen Keller her teacher, Annie Sullivan Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." Leo Buscaglia Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

“It is not the capabil1ities you now possess or ever will have that will give you success. It is that which the Lord can do for you.” Ellen G. White. Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

Source of Love, We come here today wanting to make a difference, wanting to help each other, our university, our nation and the world to be healed and whole. We see what is happening all around us and it makes us sad and angry. But we want to move beyond being paralyzed by frustration. Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007

We want to make a difference by seeing differently, by seeing from the heart and soul of those who are different from ourselves in some ways but so much the same in others. May UEAB be a place where we can make a difference in each other’s lives and they can make a difference in ours.

And may this be a time in which we open our minds and hearts to the place of quiet, to the silent prayer for the healing of pain, and the soft, gentle coming of love. AMEN. Sermon by Professor Elizabeth M. Role UEAB 2007
