2  Synecdoche-  Verisimilitude  Irony › Verbal Irony › Situational Irony › Dramatic Irony  Form of metaphor. Part of something signified by the whole.  The appearance of truth or seeming to be true.  Speaker says one thing but means the opposite  Situation turns out differently than one would expect.  Audience knows something the characters do not.

3  Omniscient Narrator  Breaking the fourth wall  Protagonist/Antagon ist  All knowing or God- like narrator  Characters from the drama address the audience.  Hero of the tale good guy or girl/ character that offers opposition.

4  Metafiction  Metadrama  The kind of fiction that comments on the very devices of fiction it employs. It usually involved irony and is self-reflective.  Akin to metafiction: It is a from of drama that calls attention to itself as a play or has occasion to comment on its own actions and devices.

5  Exaggeration, inference, comic  Accusatory, melancholy, apathetic  Ambivalent, affirming, discouraging,  Neutral
