BETTI – “Improved energy advice to manufacturing SME,s” Project 2005-08 – 2006-12-31 Object Focus on industry sector(SM) and the use of electric energy Spread information about energysaving possibilities Spread information about energy surveys and analysis Create good examples. Energy efficient companies Training programme for municipal energy advisers Training programme for ”energy managers” at the enterprises Financing The Swedish Energy Agency County administrative board County council Municipalities Enterprises

BETTI – “Better energy advice to manufacturing SME,s” Method 22 surveys and analysis in manufacturing companies. One in each participating municipality in the Counties of Örebro and Östergötland Practical training programme - “learning by doing”. Experienced consultant and energy advisers work together with personnel from the enterprise. 1-2 days per plant. 22 reports with energy advice are produced and discussed Brochure with good examples will be produced and disseminated 21 breakfast meetings are held for “neighbouring” companies

Conclusions and results There is a huge potential for energy savings in manufactoring companies. About 20 % for electricity in this study. About 16% for heating. About 14 % of the total energy usage (oil, gas, electricity) could be converted to biofuels or district heating The energy advices given has not yet been followed up but….in southeast Sweden a similar study with about 200 companies involved showed that about 42 % of the suggested measures were planned or carried out. University of Linköping, 2006
