5. There was a man that lived with his two curious and intelligent young daughters. The girls always liked to ask questions to which some of them the man would have answers to but not to all of them... The man wanted to offer them all the best that he could, so he sent them to an old wise man who lived not too far away so they could learn from this man.

6. The knowledgeable man always answered all of their questions without any hesitation. Impatient with the old man, one of the girls decided to make up a question that he could not answer. She came up with a beautiful blue butterfly to trick the old man.

7. “What are you going to do?” –asked the other sister. “I am going to place the butterfly in my hands and will ask him if it is dead or alive” “If he says that it is dead I will open my hands and let the butterfly fly freely. And if he says it is alive then I will kill it with my hands, this way either answer will be wrong!”

8. The two girls went to see the old man who was meditating. - “I have a Blue Butterfly in my hands, tell me old wise man, is it dead or alive?” Very calmly the wise man answered: “It all depends on you... It is in your hands.”

9. The same way in our lives, our present and future is in our hands. We shouldn’t blame anyone else when something goes wrong: we are responsible for the things that we conquer (or the ones we fail to conquer). Our destiny is in our hands like the blue butterfly... It is up to us what we wish to do with it. (Unknown Author)

10. The same way my dear friend Patricia has pursued many dreams, she has set goals and has conquered them as well; one of them is that at age 67 young she has biked across the USA. Being a concert pianist she would like to give something back to the community that she loves and has set up a scholarship fund at Santa Barbara Community College offering grants to music major students.

11. She has been an inspiration to many, showing us that we can pursue our own dreams. Our destiny is in our hands, as the blue butterfly in this presentation, and Patricia surely has shown all of us that. Thank you Patricia for letting me be your friend and for allowing me to be your music colleague.
