Rules and Instructions On each slide, there will be a word, a helpful picture hint, and the definition. These things will appear on the slide in their respective order. You will have fifteen seconds to say the answer before the slide automatically shows the answer. Words that are italicized in the definition are the key word or words that should be used in you definition.

Acid

Acid

Acid Substance that releases H+ ions and produces hydronium ions when dissolved in water.

Base

Base

Base Substance that accepts H+ ions and produces hydroxide ions when dissolved in water.

Chemical Equations

Shorthand form for writing what reactants are used and what products are formed in a chemical reaction; sometimes shows whether energy is produced or absorbed.

Compound

Compound

Compound Pure substance that contains two or more elements.

Diffusion

Diffusion

Diffusion A type of passive transport in cells in which molecules move from areas where there are more of them to areas where there are fewer of them.

Electromagnet

Electromagnet

Electromagnet A magnet created by wrapping a current- carrying wire around an iron core.

Endothermic

Endothermic

Endothermic Chemical reaction in which heat energy is absorbed.

Exothermic

Exothermic

Exothermic

Chemical Formula

A combination of chemical symbols and numbers that indicates which elements and how many atoms of each element are present in a molecule.

Gravity

Gravity

Gravity The force that exists between any two massive objects.

Magnetic Field

Surrounds a magnet and exerts a magnetic force on other magnets.

Neutral

Neutral

Neutral Having neither a positive or negative charge; on the pH scale: having a pH of 7.

Periodic Table

A table showing all the known elements (both natural and synthetic), their symbols, atomic number, and atomic mass.

Product

Product reactants products

Product Substance that forms as the result of a chemical reaction. reactantsproducts

Reactant

Reactant reactantsproducts

Reactant Substance that exists before a chemical reaction begins. reactantsproducts

Thanks for Playing!
