4 Keep the Students Safe  Make sure students know general shop safety procedures  Have them pass a safety quiz before operating any equipment?  Safety Contract?  Package has a sample quiz for you to review / use (attachment to charts that you can get from web) sample quizsample quiz Page 4August 6-7, 2012

5 Safe Behaviors  Be sure they know safe behavior in a shop or the pit  Wear safety goggles  Leave a safe distance between working student and others watching, etc.  Don’t distract someone working with a tool or a piece of equipment Page 5August 6-7, 2012

6 Equipment Usage  Know the safe way to use the equipment  Make sure they know how to operate a tool or piece of equipment before they turn it on  Have them plan what they are going to do and how they are going to do it before they start  Don’t rush… take their time Page 6August 6-7, 2012
