Description of Organisation Çapa Anatolian Teacher High School is a high school connected to the Turkish Ministry of Education and training its students to universities’ faculty of education. The school is the first school established especially for the purpose of teacher training in Turkey in 1848. Graduates were appointed as teachers to the schools without going any high education board until 1970s. When teacher education was handed over from the ministry of education to the universities in 1980, our school-as a secondary school-has started to train its students for education faculties of universities. Description of Organisation Entrance requirements for the Çapa Anatolian Teacher High School: Students ranked in the first percentile of the exam organized every year by the ministry of education throughout Turkey can prefer our school. When it comes to the student success, our school is the best in Turkey; and so 25% of approximately 150 students choose to be trained as teachers again in the teacher education faculties of universities. Just because Çapa Anatolian Teacher High School established at the beginning of 1900s, it is at the forefront with its historical and architectural construction. Curriculum of Çapa Anatolia Teacher High School is subjected to the programme planned by ministry of education just as the other secondary schools in Turkey. In our school, students have to take 5 compulsory educational science courses concerning teacher education for 4 years. These courses are: For 10th Grade: Introduction To Teaching Profession (2 hours) Educational Psychology (2 hours) For 11th Grade : Teaching Methods And Techniques (3 hours) For 12th Grade : Educational Sociology (2 hours) Turkish History Of Education (1 hour) Context LEONARDO PROJECT PARTNERSHIP AROUND CONTINUOUS TRAINING OF TEACHERS

Relationships with teacher development If our graduates prefer to go education faculties of universities, they take the advantage of gaining extra 24 points in the university entrance exam. Furthermore, the ministry of education gives 200 TL scholarship to the students whose first five preferences are teaching departments. Another implementation carried out for improvement of teaching profession is the opportunity-given to the college students of education faculties-of doing internship for a year in Çapa Anatolian Teacher High School.
