2. Introduction What are the purposes of our assembly? What are some pitfalls that may hinder the realization of these exalted aims? How can we prevail over such distractions?

3. Purpose We assemble for spiritual fellowship (Isa. 35:1-10; 1 Cor. 14:26-33). We assemble for spiritual instruction (Neh. 8:1-8; John 18:19-23). We assemble for spiritual worship (Psa. 95:1-11; John 4:20-24).

4. Pitfalls Some cause deliberate disruptions by their stubborn defiance (Acts 13:44-49; 19:23- 34). Some become a distraction through their sinful carnality (1 Cor. 11:17-22; James 2:1- 7). Others create unintentional disturbances through inattentive and heedless behavior.

5. Conclusion How can we overcome such obstacles? The solution is two-fold: – Avoid doing things that will distract others in the assembly. – Being patient with others, strive to block-out potential distractions, and stay focused. If we achieve these two goals, our worship assemblies will achieve their exalted aims of spiritual fellowship, spiritual instruction and spiritual worship.
