Must have NMP to apply poultry litter. Application must be made by Certified Applicator. Resident of 2 ½ acres or less may apply at the Protective Rate or according to NMP and is not required to be a Certified Applicator.

Must have soil test to apply commercial P fertilizer at PR. If no soil test is available, land owner may use recommendation of qualified person until January 1, 2009.

As of January 2007, Poultry litter within NSAs must be applied in compliance with a NMP.

May request plan from conservation district or contact other certified person. Conservation district must approve plan. May also use comprehensive nutrient management plan drafted by NRCS, which contains by NRCS, which contains a NMP. a NMP.

Operation is not responsible for use of litter once litter is removed from premises. Persons receiving litter must use litter in manner approved by ANRC and must keep records.

Owner or operator of a CAFO facility within a NSA must follow any ANRC requirement in addition to CAFO permit. Must still register operation with ANRC/ Conservation District.

Voluntary. If, for any reason, you feel that this program is not what you want, you don’t have to participate. We are presenting a proposal that landowners can take or leave. We are trying to provide enough incentives that landowners want to participate.
