Open Access Publishing with Wiley

Gold v Green Open Access Gold or pay to publish Open Access: Article is made freely accessible online to anyone anywhere immediately upon publication Authors, their funders or institution pay an Article Publication Charge for every article published. This is a supply-side model, unlike journal subscriptions which are a demand-side model. ‘Green’ open access refers to self-archiving: depositing a free copy of a digital document on the internet in order to provide open access to it. Access without payment to a version of the publication via a repository, often after an embargo period

OnlineOpen Wiley offers an optional “gold” open access model, OnlineOpen, in over 1,300 journals Enables authors to make their article available to non- subscribers on publication Freely available on Wiley Online Library, PubMed Central and PMC mirror sites For the majority of journals authors retain copyright and get the choice to publish under different licenses: CC-BY, CC-BY-NC or CC-BY-NC-ND Compliance with funder requirements unless otherwise stated www.wileyonlinelibrary.com/onlineopen

How do I make my article OO? Most journals offer OnlineOpen via Author Services Go to ‘My Publications’ area Select ‘Make my article OnlineOpen’ Complete the simple form and pay the publication Fee Alternatively go direct to the OO Form authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/onlineopen_order.asp

“ Publishing with OnlineOpen helped my article become one of the most frequently downloaded publications in this journal and I have received many positive comments and parts of this paper have been used for training and educational purposes. I found Wiley staff very professional and easy to work with during the OnlineOpen publication process.” Choudhary, Venuturumilli and Hyre, International Journal of Applied Glass Science, Vol 1, pp 188-214, 2010
