Webster’s Dictionary HOPE “To long for with the expectation of obtainment; to cherish a desire with expectation; trust; reliance; desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment.”

N.T. Christianity is “faith-based.” The evidence compels us to believe. We believe because we have hope of what it promises.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1

…in hope against hope (Abram) believed, in order that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, "So shall your descendants be." And without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body,

now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God,

and being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able also to perform. Rom 4:18-21

…we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint,

because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Rom 5:3-5

For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one also hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. Rom 8:24-25

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. Eph 4:4-6

We are a “hopeful” people. Our hope is steadfast in God. We believe He is real, His word is true, and all He has promised those who are faithful will eventually come to pass.
