2 Disadvantage (N) A situation – That is unfavorable – Not good The fifth graders were at a disadvantage in the softball game.

3 Disagreement (N) A quarrel – Not able to agree – Not of the same opinion. We had a disagreement over our birthday party.

4 Disappoint (V) To let – Down – To make someone not proud I disappointed my boss when I didn’t show up for work.

5 Discontinue (V) To end – To not use anymore I will discontinue the use of click pens in my classroom.

6 Dismal (Adj) The state of – Not good – Depressing – Dreary – Bleak It was a dismal Wednesday afternoon at Gladstone Elementary.

7 Disobedient (Adj) The act of – Not following the rules. During class, the boy was very disobedient.

8 Disorganized (Adj) The state of – Being messy – Not neat – Not able to find things My desk is very disorganized!

9 Disposable (adj) The idea that – Something is not worthy of being kept. – Easily given away – Able to throw away – Easily replaced. Mrs. Pang used a disposable container for her lunch.

10 Disrespectful (Adj) The act of being – Not polite – Rude – Not courteous The child was disrespectful to his friend on the playground.

11 Disturb (V) To bother – Or pester – Not leaving someone alone. Please do not disturb the animals at the zoo.
