“Beloved, Let Us Love One Another” (I John 4:7-21) I. Argument: Christians must Love Others (I John 4:7-11). Why make this argument? Don’t people love others naturally? Friends: but not when they betray us. Family: but not when they disappoint us. Mates: but not when they don’t please us. Countrymen: but not when they are treacherous.

I. Argument: Christians must Love Others (I John 4:7-11). John 15:9-14 – 1. As Father loved; 2. Keep commandments; 3. Lay down life; 4. Keep commands. “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another” (I John 4:7-21)

I. Argument: Christians must Love Others (I John 4:7-11). This type of love determines our fellowship with God. Note: (I John 4;7b) Those with this love are… 1. Born of God; 2. Know God Those who don’t -- Don’t know God (I John 4:8). “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another” (I John 4:7-21)

I. Argument: Christians must Love Others (I John 4:7-11). God’s example of Love: (I John 4:9,10). “Not that we loved God” (cf. Romans 5:6-8). God’s love motivates love one another (I John 4:11). “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another” (I John 4:7-21)

II. Blessings & Consequences of Demonstrating this Kind of Love. 1. It allows us to See God (vs. 12). We see Him in us. Others can see God in us or sin, worldliness and selfishness. 2. It assures us that we are in God (vs. 13). If we don’t love God isn’t in us ! “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another” (I John 4:7-21)

II. Blessings & Consequences of Demonstrating this Kind of Love. 3. It reflects our faith in God’s ultimate act of love (vss. 14-16). When we show the kind of love that God did we are expressing our own faith that God loved us that way! “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another” (I John 4:7-21)

II. Blessings & Consequences of Demonstrating this Kind of Love. 4. It allows us confidence on the day of judgement (vss. 17-18). John 14:21; I John 2:3-5; 2:9-11 Proverbs 9:10; II Corinthians 5:11; Exodus 14:31 “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another” (I John 4:7-21)

Conclusion. Argument Resumed. His love should lead to our love for Him (I John 4:19). If we don’t love others we don’t love Him (I John 4:20). We might say - “I can’t love that way -- I’ve been hurt!” Love is a command! (I John 4:21). “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another” (I John 4:7-21)
