{ Hero or Zero They Come and Go
2
Hero: To watch over protect, any person admired for courage, nobility, or exploits. Any person admired for qualities or achievements and regarded as an ideal or model. Zero: lots of definition but basically means no value. What are They
3
As a Child? As a Teen? Or an Adult? Sure, everyone has. Perhaps>>>> Have you had either?
4
Have you ever impact anyone's life that you were their hero? Have you ever impact a life as to be of no value? Sure You and I have! You ever been one!
5
That Hero to Zero is all in the perspective of the person being influenced! That the influence can be a Hero and again be a Zero! Have you noticed?
6
1 Samuel 8:7 Poor leadership causes God’s people to reject Him and desire a King. 8:20 They wanted someone who was honest, and just, does that sound familiar? They wanted a Hero! 10:24 God prepared Saul to be excepted by the people. 11:15 Saul becomes a Hero and King to the people. 17:11 Saul’s image begins to change before the people. Some Heroes of the Bible
7
The people see in David a new Hero. 2 Samuel 5:1-5 Israel names a new Hero King. 2 Sam. 12:1-15 David sins and will be diminished in the eyes of the people because of it. 15:6, 13 Early acts of bravery diminish and the Hero starts towards Zero. A New Hero
8
2 Sam. 15:6&13 Descending to Zero. We see that the Hero is in the heart (mind) of the influenced! Our experience with Heroes has been they come and then they are gone. The Hero fades.
9
We have determined that to be different for all. What is the pressing need of each one. Who is Your Greatest Hero?
10
If all mankind were poled only one need of a universal hero would be revealed. Mat. 6:25 Life has to be about more than desires and likes. The life (life force the Soul). Matt. 16:26 All the worlds riches are not as valuable as one soul. Universal Hero
11
As we grow older and more sober our need of a Hero will change. We grow concerned about the brevity of life, we need a Hero to fix it! Jn. 11:25 Life beyond death. Universal Hero
12
Jn. 14:6, 1 Jn. 5:12, Mk. 1:1 Access to eternal life is through Jesus and the Gospel The Hero Appears
13
What will keep Jesus from fading to a zero? Philippians 2:8 He was made a Hero by God as our other examples, but He did it by humbling himself in obedience NEVER failing the commandments of God. We can never justify loosing our confidence in his ability to : Be Just. Acts 17:31 He knew no sin, Ordained by God. Or To be Honest. Heb. 6:18 Impossible for God to lie it’s impossible for His son We have seen heroes to zeros
14
All Heroes that disappear are because they loose their influence as Saul and David by disappointing their people. 2 Cor. 5:12 Jesus can never disappoint because He had no sin for us to be disappointed in. Phil. 2:9 God will never be disappointed in Him. The Permanent Hero
