Venir is conjugated in the passé composé using être. Mes grands-parents sont venus aux États-Unis en 1935 (mille neuf cent trente-cinq ). (My grandparents came to the United States in 1935.)

The following verbs are conjugated like venir and also use être to form the passé composé: revenir (to come back, return) devenir (to become) Je suis revenu ce matin mais ma famille revient demain. (I came back this morning, but my family is coming back tomorrow.) Bill Gates est devenu très riche comme fondateur de Microsoft. (Bill Gates became very rich as a founder of Microsoft.)
