1 Community Paediatric Dietitian, NottinghamCityCare Partnership PhD student, University of Nottingham

2 Background Started Master of Nutrition in 2005. 4 year undergraduate masters with 3 clinical placements. Undertook summer studentship in year 2. Qualified as HPC dietitian on completion in 2009.

3 LBR funding Started MSc in Advanced Dietetic Practice in 2009. MSc majority funded through Learning Beyond Registration. Self funded research project. Funding runs from April to March.

4 NIHR funding Applied for NIHR Clinical Academic Training programme (PhD funding) in 2012. http://www.nihrtcc.nhs.uk/cat/eligibility Took 3 ½ months to complete application. Allow 1 year. Application reviewed by two people.

5 PhD Offered p/t PhD with Uni of Nottingham on back of NIHR application. Part time pro rata stipend. Fees paid by school. Started in July 2013.

6 PhD – Weight management in pregnancy. MAGIC study – collaboration between UoN and NUH. Lincoln ‘Bumps and Beyond’ study – collaboration between UoN and Lincolnshire Community Health Services.

7 PhD – weight management in pregnancy. Part 1 – changes in eating habits whilst pregnant. Part 2 – micronutrient supplement use in pregnancy. Part 3 – mechanisms of action for intervention programme.
